Introduction to Wellness Care

by John Lieurance, DC, ND

I once had a spiritual teacher who would ask me many introspective questions such as: What’s the meaning of life, and many others that would challenge me from an intellectual standpoint. He would never be as interested in my answers as much as weather or not I was attached to any particular school of thought. He was teaching me what it meant to be truly conscious. Being conscious means knowing what you believe and why, without the pollution of “encolturated” illusions. For my teacher, consciousness was the essence of what it means to become detached from cultural and social influence, seeking only truth. In the following chapters my attempt is to get a crack into how the cultural and social influences have been rooted into our views of health and wellness. The medical community, pharmaceutical companies and media have mostly propagated these illusions! It has been fueled by fear, control and financial gain!
There are many harmful influences from the current medical Para dyne in our culture which promoting disease by focusing on mere treatments that cover up symtoms while virtually ignoring both prevention and underlying causes. Largely propagated by drug companies where they thrive in a state where people remain sick, as that means both repeat customers and a growing base to market their overpriced “cures”.
Our drug companies are one of the most profitable industries on the planet, generating hundreds of billions of dollars annually. With this enormous capital they have created the largest legislative lobbying influence in Congress has ever seen! This has allowed them to to control U.S. laws, maintaining a system that perpetuates their influence through tax breaks, weakened regulatory system with the FDA, and loosened marketing restrictions that allow them to target their message to ever-growing segments of the population including our children.

In the Japanese language they have a word called Satori which translates into instant awakening. This is when we suddenly become aware of something like we can build a machine that can fly or that our body is a fragile system that needs attention. I hope this book provides a platform for your own Satori and a door is opened for your journey into truth. I have pulled my knowledge together from the most powerful physical medicine has to offer from Functional Neurology and NeuroCranial Restructuring which I blended together to form Functional Cranial Release. In addition I have found Oxygen and Glutathione therapies which can supercharge the brain and help you achieve more out of any brain based program as well as prevent and slow brain degeneration. This book has the ability to expand your current way of thinking about your body and it’s capacity to thrive.

I’ll dicuss Dr. Westin Price and his ground breaking discovery of skull structure and the consequese of living in our current industrial culture has on it and the discovery by the orthodontist community that the skull can return to a wider, healthier position through adulthood using palate expansion.

In Buddhism they speak often about age and time being nothing more than an illusions we create due to our preconceived notions of what should be. We could decide to age according to an ordinary time line or set aside our calendars and give each day our best!

Roots and Branches

Roots and branches are a Chinese philosophy such that within health you can have roots, which are the cause of a health issue. Branches are the symptoms that are evident with physical signs and symptoms. Often I show patients a picture of an iceberg with the tip sticking out of the water and the larger portion below the surface of the water. This is similar to the area of the iceberg that’s visible above sea level is a symptom and the area below is the real trouble or root. Like a flu where you might have a temperature, the temperature is not the problem it’s your body’s immune system that allowed a virus to invade your body.

Jen, a 34-year-old accountant, reported to my office complaining of chronic yeast infections. She was at her wits end as she has treated with a gastroenterologist, acupuncturist, a herbalist and her general practitioner. She had tried using herbs and drugs targeted at her symptoms all of which give her little long-term relief.

In my history I found that Jen has also been suffering from heartburn, allergies, and extreme fatigue. I ran my basic digestive panel I do in my office. I found she had very low minerals, a positive indican suggestive of yeast overgrowth, and a low basal temperature indicating a low thyroid function. Since low stomach acid causes malabsorption and can cultivate yeast over growth by creating an ideal pH for the anaerobic yeast to colonize her gut. I started asking myself why her stomach not producing normal acid levels. I suspected that her thyroid condition was causing a condition called hypochlorhydria, low stomach acid. Since her basal temperature was low as well as low iodine levels I began treating her for thyroid hypofunction and at the same time gave her HCL to take with meals as well as a diet for proper food combining. Within 1 week her digestive complaints were gone and her allergies were beginning to improve as well as increased energy. Eventually I discovered that she had high mercury levels, most likely, from eating canned tuna and amalgams in her fillings. Since mercury is toxic to the thyroid, once we cleared the mercury out of her system she was able to stop taking thyroid support and go back to a normal life.

What must be identified are the inter-relationships between a given condition and a variety of other factors and conditions. In Jens case yeast favors an acidic pH, which is related to a weak stomach, which is related to a weak thyroid, which is related in her case to mercury toxicity. The diagnosis of systemic yeast infection is just a semantic tool; it doesn’t tell you anything about what’s at the root of her condition or the cause its just describing a branch. A better name for her condition might be enviromental-toxic-hyothyroidism-ahydrochlohydria-allergic-systemic yeast infection-itis. But that’s likely to cause disease just trying to pronounce it!

Historically, once a diagnosis is given the thought process stops. It’s taught in medical school to look in a recipe book to find a treatment for your disease where a list of symptoms is provided. A drug or it can even be an herb is given that will suppress your symptoms.

I feel that once the diagnosis is given the thought process needs to begin. Questions should begin to pop up like why does this person have yeast? What makes her gut a friendly place for them to grow? Is there something at the root of this collection of symptoms that could be the trigger?

The differential diagnosis, or the diagnosis that tells the patient in a few words what’s wrong, is the equivalent of the Holy Grail in Western medicine. When the doctor makes a diagnosis he is “the man”. It’s like winning the game of medical Jeopardy.

Many of these doctors are treating you exactly how have trained them to do so. Many of my friends are medical doctors and a common complaint is that patients often demand antibiotics even when the doctor feels that the infection is of a viral nature. Many physicians indicate their patients feel “cheated” when they leave their office with out that sacred prescription. We have been so brain washed by TV ads from drug companies that suggest that we can take a pill and the next image they show us is one of perfect health. This is what we teach to our children when an overzealous mother given her kids a pill for any and all symptoms that occur. Cough suppressant, anti-histamine, fever reducer, cortisone skin cream, ant-inflammatory, anti- acid, decongestant and the list goes on. The irony is that many of these symptoms are related to the body’s job of defending and clearing itself of illness. For instance a fever is due to the body raising the temperature in order to provide an unfriendly environment for bacteria. Often taking medication to counter this natural defense can create a more sever infection. Another big problem in medicine is the use of anti-inflammatories. Vioxx and other cox 2 inhibitors where removed from the market place due to there negative effects on the cardiovascular system but this is not the only reason to take them along with any other ant-inflammatory. Since the body is responding to stress in your muscles or joints by bringing in more blood flow to the area for healing. One of my professors once said that it’s the body “Bringing in the groceries and taking out the garbage”. It has been well documented in the literature that interfering with inflammation leads to poor injury healing. Even icing an injury is said to have a negative effect of healing according to some studies.

An example of how insane the symptom care model is imagine that symptoms are all various warning signals. They exist for the sole purpose of getting our attention that somethings wrong. This is analogous to the warning lights on our cars there to signal us that something malfunctioning or about to malfunction in the vehicle. What if after seeing the overheat light illuminate we pull our car over, lift the hood, and clip the wire leading to the overheat light in the dashboard. Inflammation is your bodies overheat light! Are you clipping the wire by taking medication only to cause more damage to the machine called your body?

We need to be asking our selves at some point do we want to be better or feel better. There is always a compromise it usually takes more work on the “be better” side through changing habits and life style.

A diagnosis can often take the responsibility away from the patient. Many patients come into my office with the diagnosis of Arthritis. They will wear this diagnosis like a badge of courage. Physiologically they can become attached to the attention and sympathy they receive from their functional deficits. It’s looked at like some will of God that has no part of there own in its origin or a genetic fluke. As mentioned before, the diagnosis of arthritis tells you nothing of the cause of the condition, it only indicates that there is inflammation of a joint. Very often this diagnosis is followed with an anti-inflammatory medication. Later in the book I’ll give studies that show how use of ALL of these anti-inflammatories will worsen the destruction of these joints through the blocking of your bodies own repair mechanism.

(PRP Regenerative example)

Bob is a 43-year-old plumber who presented to my office complaining of headaches. During my exam I found he had a right knee condition. He told me that he would need to get surgery on it as per the orthopedic surgeon’s advice. He diagnosed him with osteoarthritis of the knee and recommended a total knee replacement as he said his knee was now bone on bone. Even though Bob didn’t originally come to my office for his knee he agreed to let me treat it. He was just happy that there was an option outside of surgery. In my evaluation of the right knee I found significant ligament damage of the main ligaments that support the knee joint. Because the knee joint has no support it was no wonder that there was inflammation and joint destruction. I also found that in his history he would favor that knee when stooping under plumbing jobs. Know we have a cause of the ligament damage. We began doing a ligament regeneration technique on his knee called Platelet Rich Plasma a form of prolotherapy . He began feeling better after the first treatment. Two months later his knee was no longer “bone on bone” and he was walking normal with no knee pain. He might have been given a diagnosis from me of Osteoarthritis of the knee associated with ligament and cartilage damage complicated by stooping-itis!

Illusions form through a search for the truth?

Its helpful to look at some historical events that shaped our current health care model in order to gain more insight into how our cultural and social healthcare models have been developed.

Germ theory

When the microscope was invented in the late 1500’s french chemist Luis Pasteur was able to develop the germ theory of infection. He postulated that illnesses where caused by specific germs. Soon after antibiotics where developed and many diseases of those days where cured such as tuberculosis, syphilis, and pneumonia.

With the discovery of germs medicine now possessed an external, scientifically based cause of disease. People were no longer sick from within, but were being attacked by an external factor of which they had no control over. It was pure chance if we got sick and it was the luck of the draw. The idea that there were other factors was just not popular in those days.

It seems a thought process emerged that targeted disease as some THING that can be seen and labeled. People become sick because they caught something or something caught them like diabetes, arthritis, reflux disease, or cancer.

Scientists began developing cures for illnesses such as penicillin for syphilis. This mind set created a frenzy to find the magic bullet for all diseases. As if we should attack every illness with a potion/drug that will cleanse the body of the offending agent. While we’re on the topic of STDs, it is important for anyone who has symptoms of certain infections to go and get themselves checked out. It is always best to be safe than sorry, as our health should be the top priority. According to Clark County, there have been 24 cases of syphilis per 100,000 people. If this doesn’t persuade people to book in for an STD test, then we’re not sure what else would.

The pharmaceutical industry began to grow and started taking its strong hold over health care. They started and continue to dictate the direction of our research in healthcare. The direction is in sick care and disease care based on the germ theory.

This model works for some diseases and shines in life and death emergency medicine as well as some treatment of late stages of diseases. Looking at infections and the race between man and bug keeps evolving as resistant strains emerge we don’t really know for sure who will win in the end.

Biological Terrain

In 1865, French professor, Claude Bernard developed a concept that looked at the host and its ability to cultivate disease. He postulated that the state of the host was most important in determining who got sick and how the illness would progress. He stated that “the microbe is nothing and the terrain is everything.”

If a healthy plant was transplanted from its fertile soil into mineral deficient, polluted, dry soil what do you think to outcome would be? A sick plant would surely be inevitable in this scenario! Now take that sick plant and plant it back into soil abundant in minerals, clean, and ample water. I hope your beginning to see my point.

In my office we have a full service lab which we test many different factors pertaining to our patients biological terrain including such things as minerals, oxidation, pH, nitrates, ammonia, mineral salts, vitamins, toxicity, total sugars, live blood cell analysis and lipids to name just a few. Our lab also looks at many factors relating to organ function.

Even Pasteur, the man who held down the fort to the opposing team finally agreed on his death bed that terrain held the key to disease, not the microbe!

Genetics

The age of genetics began with Gregor Mendel who was a botanist and a monk. Mendel breeds peas and found he could predict certain characteristics based on breeding patterns. Our current model of genetic expression is based on this work and makes no mind of outside influences and more complex patterns in human beings. Things like sexuality, emotions, heart capacity, brain function, muscle strength, and artistic ability may have a genetic foundation but these traits are also molded by circumstances of one’s environment, diet, mental/emotional stress, habits, and physical circumstances such as injuries, posture and cranial development. Many of these conditions show up by changing brain function and neurological wiring.

There was a study on identical twins to determine how much genetics play into our health. A large groups of 50,000 Chinese homozygote twins were monitored and there diseases seemed to match each other while they lived together, for instance if one got sick the other one would as well. It was interesting that the study found that only 15% of the twins would experience similar disease patterns once they were separated from each other. The rest of the 85% of the twins had completely different health histories.

Only a handful of rare conditions are known to be caused by genetic mutations and the rest are dependent on the biological terrain. Even though they could have an expression from genes those genes are influenced by their environment such as free radical damage, which is, mostly, in our control.

The principle here is that most diseases are in our immediate control and can be a result of many different factors.

One problem one answer

It’s human nature to think in expanded thoughts, sorting for a variety of possibilities in problem solving. We have been programmed by society to think in a more narrow linear fashion when it comes to our health. An answer or drug to match a condition and one problem for one answer. A condition such as low thyroid function can be caused by gut inflammation, acidic diet choices, insulin resistance and low oxygen. Modern medicine ignores that diseases can have many sources. Depression is another good example where medicine has pointed the finger to serotonin. With an arsenal of drug targeted at the circulation of serotonin in the brain it seems to ignore all the ways serotonin can be depleted or cranial rhythm that circulates oxygen and neurotransmitters like serotonin in the brain. Even the drugs themselves have been proven, over time, to deplete serotonin reserves as the drug dosage needs to be increased or changed. Many of these drugs are now linked to teenage suicide and murder.

Sarah a 37 year old female found me online and traveled from Alabama. She showed up with her husband clearly in distress. She tells me in the history she started having migraines and Vertigo 3 years ago around the time she had giving birth to her second child. She has seen several neurologists, which had her on several, very strong, drugs for pain and one that suppresses her vestibular system which is the area in your ear that controls balance. The drugs where causing irritability and brain fog and she was having trouble at work due to this.

The tragic issue with vestibular drugs is that they don’t target just the part of the vestibular system that has the roblem but the entire brain. These drugs really shouldn’t be used in cases like her. These drugs block her body from retraining itself and in and of itself can propagate the problem.

Her relationship with her husband had also been significantly stressed due to low libido and irritability. The pain was constant even one these drugs functioning in daily life had become almost impossible. She was most concerned with her inability to be therefore her children. My exam included a thorough functional neurologic exam, and a CAPS test looking for areas of her brain which where out of balance. You can see examples of these tests by logging onto FunctionalCranialRelease.com where I have short video’s of patients just like Sarah. I then took an x-ray of her skull. I found that she had a positive hallpike test on the right side. This indicated that she had a gravel like material floating in small canals called semi circular canals located in the ear that control balance. This was very significant because 75% of the vestibular nerves go down the spinal cord. I also found she had significant restriction of her sphenoid bone. She was also having advanced brain degeneration caused by low oxygen and glutathione levels in her central nervous system. This means I must utilize EWOT and glutathione nebulization during her stay in Sarasota. Ok so here’s the deal, every body has a certain metabolic capacity. This means they can only handle so much before they go “off line”. This phenomena happens in your muscles the same way it occurs in your brain, you work out a bicep too much you will cause too much stress to the muscle and the effects are negative. You work out to a point of maximal stimulation and then let the muscle rest and recover you will see the most gains in strength. So with Sarah I want to balance her brain, correct the area in her skull to release the migraines that were causes by low oxygen delivery. By doing a functional cranial release on her I would aim to release adhesions to the dura mater and restore something called cranial rhythm. The dura is a tough connective tissue layer that protects the brain and spinal cord. Many times migraines can be caused by tension in the dura as well as low oxygen. These will then result in a vascular and inflammatory change in the head. After the very first visit Sarah and her husband showed up with gleaming smiles on their face. She then told me how great of a night sleep she’d had then the tears of joy began as she told me ” This is the first time in 3 years I have not had a headache.” I couldn’t help but get emotional myself. So many times I see patients like her that have been searching for an answer and finally they have hope for a future with out pain. I knew we still had to deal with some things with her balance so after doing her 2nd fRC treatment I did something called an eply’s maneuver on her. You can see me perform this on line. I then put a cervical collar on her and gave her instructions not to look down, and sleep at a 45 degree angle that night. After my treatment we did Glutathione nebulization and EWOT for 5 minutes. Her recovery was text book and by the 4th day we tested her on the CAPS platform and she was within normal range for her balance. Upon releasing her I referred her to a chiropractic neurologist to follow up with functional neurology and put her on 500mg of Glutathione in a suppository before bed each night. I followed up with Sarah a month later and she had gotten a promotion at work and was active with her family life living pain free.

Instead of looking for “THE answer” I always recommend sorting for what ALL can be involved in my condition. Sarah needed a comprehensive plan that addressed a set of circumstance’s that where causing major imbalance in her brain causing inflammation and dizziness. Looking at her metabolic situation, her structural issues in her skull and the state of her inner ear and addressing them was necessary to create the result for her. Functional Neurology looks at the brain in a way that opens the doctor up to possibilities. The brain was created to overcome and heal itself given the correct stimulation, glutathione and oxygen levels. This type of thinking doesn’t stop at a diagnosis and matching a drug to it.

Hutch was 94 years old. He was a well know professional golfer in the 40’s and 50’s. His wife was in excellent physical shape still doing yoga at 82 years old. Hutch on the other hand was having trouble walking from the waiting room to the exam room. He was diagnosed with emphysema and sleep apnea. His wife told me he has very poor sleep and usually spends his days sitting on the couch reading and dreaming of the day’s he used to gulf. Hutch’s cranial structure was collapsed and his nasal passages where terribly closed off due to this. He was suffocating from this! I wasn’t sure at the time I would make much change for him at this late stage of life. I knew we would benefited from the Glutathione and EWOT. I was glad he was local and I could work with him between fCR sequences. I started him off with Glutathione suppository’s and I wanted him to do EWOT daily for a couple weeks then 3 times a week for a month. I also had him start with some basic eye exersizes and balance work to drive his frontal lobe of his brain. I was hoping to wake him up as he was bairly able to talk, sitting slouched over looking at the floor and walking with a cain at a snales pace with assistance of his wife. My first fCR treatment was such a powerful release I felt his facial bones actually expand under my hand. He got up after this first treatment and looked stunned for a couple minutes. Looked over at me and inhailed deeply through his nose and said “Oxygen”. He then proceded to test each nostal inhailig deeply testing his new found ability to breathe deeply. I finished the sequence with all 4 visits having similarly fantastic and explansive changes in his skull and facial bones. By the end of the week he walked into my treatment room with his cain in one hand and head held high. I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing! I was meeting Hutch, the real Hutch. He told me” Dr. John I had given up on my life. I didn’t have the energy or want to do much at all. Each day was a struggle to get up.” I’m awake now Dr. John!”. Hutch had Satori. So did I as I was convinced how important my work was to so many of the elderly who’s faces have collapsed causing hypoxia to the brain.

Poor health is like standing at the edge of a large cliff. You might be very close to the edge of the cliff or close to death. It was your life circumstances that walked yourself to that edge. It is also up to you how far you would like to step back away from the edge of the cliff. Obviously the farther away you step the healthier you become. Once you start moving back from the immediate threat your likely to have less symptoms, even though there is lots of health that could return, many will stop there. This is why I love functional neurology because we have objective tests like the CAPS platform, physical findings to demonstrate how your progressing. With Hutch he leaped away from the edge. He and his wife knew he was close before fCR.

We’re all born with a tremendous amount of reserve within our body to absorb the insults we dish out to our bodies and brain. Your pancreas’s strength lies in its ability to regulate blood sugar through the production of insulin. As a child I was guilty of pouring so much sugar into my cereal, I wasn’t happy until my spoon stood up on one end in the bowl and not water but a soda often followed soccer practice. I actually believed the TV commercials back then regarded a snickers bar as being a quality meal replacement. Hmm I think they still are taking that angle. Some people who are uneducated about nutrition might still buy that story. So I drained my pancreas’s ability to regulate my blood sugar with these past actions and I now must pay attention to what I eat in order to have consistent energy throughout the day.

We can have up to 90% more reserve in a given organ than we need at any given time. It’s up to us how we conserve or burn this reserve. It sure is nice to have reserves in the event of major disease. I worked with a medical doctor who treated patients with HIV and he would often prescribe growth hormone and testosterone in order to aid the patient in building muscle mass. This was in order to build up reserves. It’s common that these HIV patients would get hit with an opportunistic infection and lack the reserves to withstand the assault. Without the storages of glycogen in their muscles as fuel they simply run out of resources and die.

Backing yourself up from that cliff far enough that someone could come behind and push you really hard and you wont fall into a catastrophe. This is the basic concept surrounding wellness! Your brains ability to take in and absorb and circulate oxygen is a critical factor in backing up from the cliff. Remember that the brain is in control. It feeds your body and controls all your body functions. Your skull structure is critical to the health of your brain, circulation of oxygen and neurotransmitters that keep your brain healthy. By expanding and releasing the dura and the cranial bones along with it you allow a normal function to return to many area’s of your body. By then balancing your brain with functional neurology you drive nerve pathways that lay dormant or weaken to revive the brain and reorganize it to support and build reserves and vitality. By using oxygen based therapies such as EWOT, Deep breathing exercises you give your body the capacity to do more and heal faster. Glutathione is also a rate limiting factor for many patients looking for an edge to get faster and bester results with there program. Many feel Glutathione is one of the top nutrients in your brain to preserve it’s capacity and slow aging. See Glutacure.com for detailed information on this.

My Own Biological Terrain Results!

When I first tested myself I was shocked that my level of health was in a severe state across the board. How did I get this way when I spent so much time working on my health? I began looking very carefully at my life and how little if any feedback I was getting about what I was doing as it related to health such as exercise and nutrition.

I saw the Terrain work as a way to finally measure my body’s state of health and what effect different changes would make on my body. I also went out and hired a personal trainer and let another doctor check my terrain and offer suggestions.

It took about 6 months of hard work before my labs began to get into the normal range, and I felt stronger than any other time I could remember. The baby fat around my abdomen, that I had since even being in high school, was gone, my attention and mental clarity improved, and I wake up in the morning with a “seize the day” attitude!

What was a big breakthrough for me was how brain washed we are in the US in regards to how we think of our health. We actually think that we can take a vitamin and have normal levels the next day. It doesn’t work that way, unfortunately. A classic example is zinc where 90% of our population is deficient.1,5 Our thought are that we take a mineral like zinc and then we will then have zinc in our system for a few days, if not more. What we forget is that there is a level of tissue saturation that is available to us. Zinc is measured in my office with a taste test were the level of deficiency is measure by how strong the taste of the solution is on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the strongest taste imaginable. Across the board I see 1-2 range, and many were like myself with a level 0, no taste at all. I was very interested in raising my zinc due to the extreme health benefits to having high zinc levels, immune system, hormones, hair, nails, bone, teeth, libido and the list is long for this incredible important mineral.

I began to experiment with different types of zinc supplements all the while monitoring my levels as well as my patients. I was disappointed as I had little or no change with myself and many of my patients. I finally found a company that made a liquid formula that contained several highly absorbable forms of zinc. It was very effective but it still took 3 months to get the levels up even with the Liquazinc.

The above mindset is a result of thinking of our body in context of blood and not something more complex. Let me explain Lets say you were going to make black beans. Well the first thing you would need to do is soak the beans over night or even for 24 hours. When you first put them in water they are still hard, it takes time for them to absorb the water. Our cells need time to soak up nutrients like beans. They are also more complex in that our cells are picky about: what goes in, that they’re accompanied by certain other nutrients called cofactors, and how fast it goes in is regulated. This process, many times, occurs gradually and the net results are due to habits being done consistently, over a period of time. the above analogy regarding beans works well to understand dehydration. You can drink lots of water one day and feel hydrated, quenched! However there is something magical about drinking lots of water for several days, a week or even a month. Its called superhydration. It’s allowing that water to soak into the beans or cells over time. This is building up your reserves for better health today and into the future.

When we do our testing in my office we will have patients stop taking all their supplements for two days prior to collecting their samples. So many times when the results show a level of a nutrient like calcium or magnesium to be low they think that it was due to them not taking the mineral for two days. “It’s the tissue saturation that we’re testing” I will tell them. The ability to look at reserves is powerful and necessary within sick and wellness care.

Hi Ben,

Because FCR releases the cranium at such a deep level it may offer a long term and permanent answer to your condition. You can call our office at (941) 330-8553 and make arrangements to come see me or set up a consult over the phone. By the way typical cost for a series which consists of a detailed history of your illness, neurological, spinal and cranial exam, (x2 before and after) balance plate testing, skull x-ray, and 4 treatment visits each of which there is a brief exam, cranial percussion or massage, spinal treatment with hands or instrument, a specific endo-nasal balloon inflation, creating a home exercise program when necessary is 1150. This will cover everything we will need to do with a case like yours. You may require follow up care however most cases as significantly improved or corrected after the first sequence. I will have a better idea after an examination of your skull, neurology, spine, and a detailed history of your illness. I hope this helps. You may also e-mail me back with any more questions.

See the answers from your questions below.

Hello Doctor John,

I’m strongly considering treatment, but first I’d like to ask you an important question. Can you describe specifically what happens when you insert the balloon into the nasal passages and expand it at different areas of the sphenoid sinus? The Sphenoid bone not sinus. And yes there are actually 6 different placements for the balloon and various body positions that are decided by specific testing.

You wrote, “a series Cranial Release’s are performed where the connective tissues that surround your brain and spinal cord called the Dura Mater are specifically released using endonasal balloon inflations. This is done in combination with the above mentioned functional neurologic modalities to provide the therapeutic effect to balance and normalize brain function. This normalization results in healing.”

So the dura mater are released, which allows the skullplates to quickly adjust their alignment rather than being held and fixed in position by the tissue. I understand that you choose an area of the sphenoid sinus that will release the dura mater in a proprioceptively correct way, but can you please give me more specifics?

The Dural is a tough connective tissue that wraps around the brain, becomes the whites of the eyes and the sinus’. These connective tissues may have adhesions. FCR addresses these adhesions so the skull may either develop or return to a more optimal function. Genetic material the is around your teeth as well is turned on and the skull can change its morphology and the cranial pumping action called cranial rythum can return to a more correct and normal action which can help properly distribute oxygen and nutrients that keep the brain and central nervous system healthy.
